Privacy Policy — KiteOn

Effective date: April 23, 2026 KiteOn (“the App”) is developed and maintained by an independent developer. This policy explains how the App handles your data.

Data We Collect

Location data: Your spot’s GPS coordinates are stored locally on your device to fetch weather forecasts. They are sent to Open-Meteo (open-source weather API) to retrieve forecast data. We do not store your location on any server. Spot data (anonymous): When you create a spot, its geographic coordinates and characteristics (such as coast orientation and water type) may be transmitted anonymously to our servers to improve the service and build a community spot database. No personal information is associated with this data — it cannot be linked to you or your device. User profile: Your riding level, kite size, and preferences are stored locally on your device only. Weather data: Fetched from Open-Meteo’s public API. No personal data is sent with these requests. Feedback (optional): If you use the in-app feedback feature, your message, email (if provided), device model, Android version, and app version are sent to Firebase Firestore. This data is used solely to improve the App. Analytics: The App uses Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data (app opens, feature usage, crashes). No personally identifiable information is collected. You can opt out of analytics in your device settings. Authentication: The App uses Firebase Authentication for optional sign-in. If you sign in, your email is stored by Firebase. You can delete your account at any time.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, phone number, or contacts
• We do not track your real-time location
• We do not link spot data to your identity or device
• We do not sell or share your data with third parties
• We do not display ads

  Third-Party Services

• Open-Meteo (weather data): open-meteo.com/en/terms
• Google Firebase (analytics, auth, feedback, spot database): firebase.google.com/support/privacy
• Google Play Billing (in-app purchase): handled entirely by Google

  Data Storage & Security

  All personal data (profile, spots, preferences) is stored locally on your device using encrypted storage. Feedback data and anonymous spot data are stored in Firebase Firestore with restricted access rules.

  Children’s Privacy

  The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

  Your Rights

  You can delete all your local data by uninstalling the App. To request deletion of feedback data stored in Firebase, contact us at the email below.

  Changes to This Policy

  We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
